HONG KONG -- Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee emphasized the significance of a "holistic approach to national security" on Monday, a sign of the government's strengthening embrace of President Xi Jinping's doctrine.

"The main topic of the day is the 10th anniversary of 'holistic approach to national security,'" Lee said at the opening ceremony of Hong Kong's National Security Education Day event on Monday. He described the approach as "the essential strategy and the complete system" for safeguarding national security.
